A single-storey villa organised around a shaded courtyard, built to hold cool air and long shadow through the hottest part of the day.
The brief asked for a house that could be lived in barefoot. We set the plan around a central water court, then pushed deep overhangs out over every glazed face so the interior never takes direct sun. Travertine floors run continuously from the entry through to the terrace, and the joinery is a single tone of oiled walnut so the eye stays on the landscape.
